BLOOD ROCK Radio, Redux

a page from the reading of blood rock, pre-seven-dirty-words cleanup

Hey there, Cinnamon and Dakota fans … I’ll be reading from the revised-for-print version of BLOOD ROCK on Ann Arbor’s Unbedtime Stories on KFJC 89.7 FM for the whole month of July.

Interestingly, this is the SECOND time I’ve made the early morning trip to Foothill College to read from BLOOD ROCK … the first time was two and a half years ago and marked the first time I appeared on Ann Arbor’s program.

The text has changed slightly, but the story remains the same. I hope you enjoy!

Working on preorders for BLOOD ROCK…

I can’t make preorders of ebooks possible on Amazon, Fictionwise, Barnes and Noble or iBook, but I am tracking how many people want a copy of BLOOD ROCK. Comment on this message or respond on Dakota’s Facebook page and I’ll do what I can to make preorders possible.

UPDATE: Looks like this will be possible. More in a bit.

Line Edit Response Back To Bell Bridge…

… meaning, I’m done with my edits to BLOOD ROCK. The next document I see will be a copyedit or perhaps even a galley proof. Woo woo! On track for August 16th.

Interviewed: Thoughts of a Scot

I’ve been interviewed by Julie-Anne of Thoughts of a Scott. I was quite taken by the choice quote below … and the linked image:

Can’t wait to read more about Dakota. And on a different note, below is the model I had in my head when I was reading Frost Moon. Her name is Rachael Huntington and she’s also an amazing tattoo artist.dakota's clone from our universe!

Wow … I hadn’t seen Rachael Huntington before, but I can’t miss the resemblance to Dakota!

Thanks, Julie, for both the interview and the pointers!

BLOOD ROCK on its way to line edits…

Blood Rock v104 Submission
About ten days ago, I finished the second rounds of edits to BLOOD ROCK and sent it back to Bell Bridge Books; a day later my editor Deborah Dixon let me know it was on its way to line edits. I’ve also finished the frontispiece and my linguist has finished reviewing Cinnamon’s speech; the changes are light enough to work into the line edit.

We’re very close now.

Getting the band^h^h^h^hblog back together

Alright, we’re down to the wire on BLOOD ROCK … I’ve just about finished the frontispiece and the editor just sent me a “Just a few more changes but …. YOU ROCK!” message, so I suppose it’s time to get the blog back together.

For the time being, I’m going to put the ability to do updates on WordPress over the nice templates I’d built on Blogger. You all deserve to know what’s going on in the world of Dakota Frost, and more than just the tweet stream at http://twitter.com/#!/dakotafrost or the Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/dakotafrost!

BUT hopefully soon enough I’ll get this blog cleaned up so it looks like it once did.

Sorry for the delay …

… had some trouble porting the blog from Blogger to WordPress (the trouble being, I’d always like to spend time writing LIQUID FIRE or my next novel rather than messing around with site administration). Will take a couple of iterations to get the site theme back up and running … please stay tuned!

Blood Rock Teaser

On 4th book of comments from my beta readers. A teaser:

“Promise me, Dakota,” Rand said. “Promise that you won’t get mixed up in this—”

“This thing murdered a friend, attacked another and almost killed me,” I said. “I’m already ‘mixed up’ in this. But I promise I’m not going to throw a monkey wrench in your investigation, Andre. I want you to get this guy. These guys. Whoever it is.”

Rand was silent for a minute. “Fine, Dakota,” he said. “I love you like a daughter, but I promise you that if you stick your nose back into this I will have you up on obstruction charges.”

“Andre—”

“I mean it, Dakota,” Rand said. “Butt. The Hell. Out.”

And he hung up, leaving me and the blue bomb sailing into Midtown in near silence.

More to come…
